EVENTS DIARY

Morecambe Bay from Grange-over-Sands. Set above this estuary, just seven miles from the foot of Lake Windermere, amidst a glorious garden, stands Graythwfsaite Manor. No words can adequately describe its romantic situation; the views both to the east and to the west, and the freshness of the air even on the hottest day.

Grange-over-Sands is a traditional resort boasting an enviable collection of interesting Edwardian shops and immaculate public ornamental gardens where visitors can relax and feed the ducks on the pond.

There is also a newly built swimming pool in the area for everyone to try out and have great fun, and further along in Grange-over-Sands there is an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts and bowling greens.

Bandstand in the park
The Bandstand was a gift to the people of Grange, from Harold Porrit JP, the Director of a textile factory in Helmshore, Lancashire, who came to the town in 1895. Originally sited on the Promenade, this structure was eventually moved here because ladies made a protest to the council on a delicate matter of soot from steam trains ruining there clothes whilst they listened to band music.
